Urethra and I spent the 18th through the 20th in the Franklin Wal-Mart.
The falling prices on this shift were amazing. It has been many a year since I have seen so many good deals at one time. I reckon I bought over 100 cases of Faygo at $0.59 for a 2 liter! I got my dad to come out the second day for a few hours and he found a pair of Lynyrd Skynyrd boxer shorts, and he wore them right out of the store.
The main mission on this shift was to show the new girl, Robitussina Palmer (or Tussy for short), around the store. Tussy was hired last week after being the only applicant that was able to fill out her entire application correctly. Management is very excited to have her.
When she met me, she said, “I thoroughly enjoy reading your articles on your website. I appreciate what you do by keeping our shoppers safe, and entertaining the community.”
That Monday morning, I met Tussy at the Lawn and Garden Section where I was talking to our Store Manager Jim Walton.
Walton told us to watch all the training videos first before showing her around the floor, but first we needed to go retrieve the Mart Cart. Someone had driven it to the Arby’s drive-thru, then left it with a dead battery at the Exxon fuel pump. Those joy-riding elders really get to me sometimes.
I had a nice day with Tussy, however the wild customers were not cooperating all that well. I was really hoping Tussy was going to get through the good training videos before someone left their soiled diapers on the toy aisle. So much for hoping.
Anyway we had a great training session, and she’s sure to be up to speed in no time on disappearing for 30 minute intervals, and letting the checkout lines go back to the produce section. It was an honor for me to take Tussy through the store, and I hope to get to know this young woman a lot better if you know what I mean!
