COURTLAND—The search is on for a Como man accused of robbing a Courtland-area gold to cash store on Sunday. Southampton County Sheriff’s Office on Monday issued a statement to be on the lookout for Omar Dell, a.k.a “Golden Showers.”
Dell allegedly robbed the Gold To Cold Hard Money Son on Gold Street at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, said Officer Lake Lawford. Dell demanded store owner Shady Moore give up his prized diamond encrusted cross necklace, and also made off with numerous Granny necklaces that had yet to be converted to solid gold. Dell then asked for change, and when the cash registered was opened, he grabbed the money and took off.

Deputies tied Dell to the crime from a surveillance photo taken showing tattoos on each arm spelling out “Omar” and “Dell,” and from Shady Moore’s statement. “Fool came in and got my cross necklace off me, man. Then he hits up my antique grandma goldwear section before we had a chance to melt it down. That was some real solid gold too, we buy only the finest. Cat even took a handful of gold teeth. When he turns to the door, he says to me, “Ain’t nothin’ like some Golden Showers,” said Moore. Trooper Stanley Johnson with the Virginia State police believes Dell also robbed Lumps in Franklin at 11 a.m. |
“It was the same MO, and he matches the description of the Gold to Cold Hard Money Son robbery,” Johnson said. “In Lumps, a white man weighing 150-200 pounds came in and took each woman’s Pandora bracelet, took the entire tray of twinkies that was sitting out, and said, “Y’all look a little sweaty, time for y’all to hit the Golden Showers.”
The alleged robber, who was wearing a 1989 Rusty Wallace Kodiak #27 t-shirt and cutoff jorts, drove off in a 1983 Ford Ranger, which was 50 shades of primer gray, and had North Carolina license plates.
“Shady Moore recalls seeing a gold-colored showerhead hood ornament,” Johnson said.
The two robberies are expected to carry 5 years in prison. However if Dell is convicted of driving North Carolinian, he could face 20 years in a Maximum Security Federal Penitentiary. If you have any information that would lead to Dell’s arrest, call 1-800-Thatsonofabitchstolemybling.
