FRANKLIN—Friday’s release of the much anticipated Lil Jimmy iHat 3, an all new condom, had customers lined up for blocks in some cities, but not in Franklin.
Sales kicked off at midnight Tuesday. By 7:00 a.m. Friday, just one of the new-generation rubbers had been sold at the Wal-Mart on Armory Drive, said Prophylactics Department Manager Hugh Richard.

All was quiet throughout the week. As of early evening Friday, four of the initial five in stock remained locked up in the display case. They are priced at $9.99 a box. Richard expects the Lil Jimmy iHats to last awhile at the store, noting, “It’s not like people buy a lot of protection around here anyway, Lil Jimmy’s or otherwise. I mean hell, our greeter got attacked recently by a band of small children who had no parents in sight. Just imagine if these parental units had the forethought to rubber-up before play.” |
The new Lil Jimmy iHats are slightly thinner and lighter, and the biggest selling point is the improved display, which makes your package look up to four times larger than the original Lil Jimmy iHats. The graphics are improved also, ranging from cool racing stripes down the side, to a ruler that has inaccurate measurement to increase confidence, as well as Dora the Explorer, Power Rangers, Captain America, and a new movie tie-in with the Hunger Games.
Rite Aid takes orders for the Lil Jimmy iHats, but referred additional questions to its corporate office in Texas. No one returned a phone call.
